Since coffee is largely made of water, using a filter cartridge for your coffee machine is essential (unless you have a pre-filtration solution for the water you put in the reservoir).

The filter cartridge significantly improves the taste of your water, primarily by filtering out limescale. It also helps prevent the machine from clogging too quickly, thereby extending its lifespan.

One cartridge can filter approximately 50 liters; a change every 2 to 3 months is recommended for standard use. Very easy to replace, simply screw it into the reservoir in place of the old one and notify the machine so it can flush water through it. Remember to recycle the cartridges (stores that accept batteries and light bulbs generally handle cartridges as well).
